It’s been a few days since I finished my video lessons from the Innovative Teaching Academy. I can’t wait for May. I wish my students felt that same way about my classes.
As I was setting up my blog and writing my first posts I was so excited. Waiting for the next lesson to create a better product was painful. Finding a purpose and reason to write and reflect was empowering. Listening to George Couros give advice and share his thoughts was empowering. Sharing my thoughts and having strangers respond and even share them was empowering. This I believe is what every teacher wants their students to feel. That they have a feeling of empowerment in their education.
This I believe is what every teacher wants their students to feel. That they have a feeling of empowerment in their education. It’s such a great feeling when a student wants to learn and not just get an A.
A definition of empowering is to “make (someone) stronger and more confident, especially in controlling their life and claiming their rights.”
I feel stronger, more confident, and I control what happens next.
I’ll admit my classroom hasn’t changed much yet, but I know it will. I want my students to want to learn and I know that starts with me.
So, now I wait for the next series of lessons. I can’t wait to learn more.
